Whenever there is a book that everyone seems to be reading, I always want to read it. Not necessarily because I'm even interested in the book, but more because I want to see what all the fuss is about. So, with the movie release of 50 Shades of Grey this month, I decided that it was time for me to finally read the book. Go ahead and file this one under: it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Hey, at least it allowed me to check a book off the list for the 2015 Modern Mrs. Darcy Reading Challenge, in the category of, "a book everyone has read but you." I also took some time to reflect on these books that everyone seems to be reading, because honestly, after this experience, I wasn't so sure if I wanted to read any more books that everyone seems to be reading.
For me, these "everyone is reading it" books tend to fall into one of these categories:

For me, these "everyone is reading it" books tend to fall into one of these categories:
- Why didn't I read this sooner? Harry Potter. For sure.
- Entertaining. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. Except for the third book. Don't even get me started on that one.
- Just okay. The Hunger Games. Honestly, I only read the first book and no one can believe that I didn't need to read the rest.
- Complete waste of time. Fifty Shades of Grey. Enough said.
